Surrounded by many important Californian cities, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the region's premier airport and is located on the southwestern side of the city, next to the Pacific Ocean.

Prominent suburbs close to Los Angeles Airport include El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, all of which are located to the south. Also nearby, the Playa Del Rey, Venice and Santa Monica all lie to the northwest, while Inglewood and Hawthorne stand to the east.

Los Angeles Airport is surrounded by a number of important roads. On the northern edge of the airport, the Westchester Parkway connects Pershing Drive to the west and South Sepulveda Boulevard to the east, which leads to the terminals via the Sky Way and World Way.

Directions to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from Santa Barbara:

Travel along Route 101 (El Camino Real / Ventura Freeway) in a southerly direction
Continue for around 80 miles / 129 km and then join Interstate I-405
Exit at the Howard Hughes Parkway junction
Keep to the left and head along South Sepulveda Boulevard in a southerly direction
Continue along the Sky Way and turn right into World Way North
Follow the airport sign posts

Directions to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from San Bernadino:

Travel along the I-10 interstate (San Bernadino Freeway) in a westerly direction
Continue for around 40 miles / 64 km and then join Interstate I-605 (San Gabriel River Freeway) for 12 miles / 19 km
Join the I-105 interstate and continue for around 17 miles / 27 km
Continue along North Sepulveda Boulevard
Follow the sign posts and then turn into Los Angeles Airport
