Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
Airport Information

(Los Angeles, California - CA, USA)

Currently the world's fifth busiest airport and handling some 65 million passengers over the past 12 months, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is also an important base for cargo airlines and international freight. The airport's convenient location, around 15 miles / 24 km southwest of downtown Los Angeles, has led to its importance and status, along with the excellent sea and land transport nearby.

LAX is also near to the Venice City Beach, Dockweiler Beach and the Marina del Rey, and is known for handling record numbers of non-connecting passengers. Apart from its high traffic, Los Angeles Airport is particularly famous for aircraft spotting, with nearby observation areas such as the Imperial Hill allowing breathtaking views from underneath the aircraft.

Various transport options are on-hand at Los Angeles Airport, allowing you to reach the city with ease. Buses, shuttle vans and airport taxis travel to downtown Los Angeles and its many nearby districts, such as the famous entertainment capital of Hollywood, and West LA, which is home to the exclusive neighborhood of Bel Air. Worth noting, a free shuttle service runs from the airport every 12-15 minutes, to the Metro Green Line Light Rail's Aviation station. If you are planning to leave your car here, then various LAX parking options present themselves, with just under 8,000 individual parking spaces spread around some eight different garages and lots. Economy and long-term parking is accompanied by a free cell-phone waiting lot close to the Central Terminal.
